Party Poker Million Event
    One day I get a call from an online poker playing friend of mine. I think he converted from being a Stud player in the beginning to a holdem player when the craze took over. Certainly, he's been wrapped up in the No Limit Freeze-out Texas Holdem Tournament scene for some time now.

    It turns out he came across an offer to split the cost of the buy-in to the Party Poker Million. The Party Poker Million is a Limit Holdem event, and wanting to know how to play Limit poker, he gives me a call. I told him, if you want to know how to pay winning limit holdem, read through the articles at http://www.winningholdem.net.

    I also told him to pick up the Lee Jones and Sklansky books. Well, he read through the website. He never did buy the books I recommended. Instead, he bought a copy of "52 Tips for Texas Holdem Poker" by Barry Schulman (of Card Player magazine). I guess since the tournament takes place on a Card Player cruise, it's only fitting. Besides, my friend is much more a "tips" kind of fellow than someone who reads through hand histories and such anyway.

    Well, the cruise is over, and I got the phone call with the report. He placed in the top 100, which put him into the money. His prize for the tournament was a cool $16,000. He said the strategy advice that helped him the most was . . .
